HARDEST SOCKS EVER!  Very complicated pattern, eyelets, ribbed cables, come on!  But, they are comfy and cozy for sure.
Knitted out of fabulous Malbrigo Sock Yarn, my first Malbrigo project, so expensive, but very very soft and delicious!  I bought this on a my first business trip to Philadelphia.  I visit our Philly office a couple times a year, and the first time I went I researched yarn stores, luckily Loop is a nice 1/2 hour walk from our Philly office, and cookie a had just reviewed the shop on her blog.  I never miss a chance to stop in whenever I am in town and PS, there is a really great fabric store right next door (Spool!).
The pattern is vilai from Sock Innovation.

This yarn was bought in San Francisco during the Democratic National Convention in Denver.  We escaped to sunny Cali during the invasion of the Democrats.  I have actually knitted a full pair of socks, ripped them out because I HATED the socks, I started knitting another pattern, and it was too much trouble for how obscured the pattern was, ripped out that sock, and finally settled on these!  I am finally happy with this extremely fussy yarn!
This is the Trilobite Socks pattern from the first Socks from the Toe Up book by Wendy Johnson.  I am REALLY enjoying both toe-up socks books by Wendy Johnson.  The Yarn is Araucania Ranco, the color really cannot be described, it’s the loudest acid granny apple green you have ever seen.  Almost inappropriate!  LOVE IT!

Where have you been all my life…..

….Socks from the Toe Up?!  I have done a couple toe-up socks, but all with short row heels.  I am pretty attached to the gusset heel, and I am working on my first gusset heel sock from this book, and IT’S AWESOME!  No picking up sts on the gusset!  It’s all short rows, and it’s total genius.  I am a fan for sure!

Another winner from Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarn, which I am finding out is an unsung hero among the celebrated Interweave sock knitting books.  I used the Rib Fantastic Pattern.  These are for my friend Renee, who casually mentioned she would like some socks a couple times, so I got down to business.  I checked the stash, nothing really appropriate, so I grabbed a mutual friend Annie and headed down to Shuttles Spindles and Skeins in Boulder during lunch. We picked out Zauberball Crazy green, purple, black, gray.  Perfect for Renee.  The picture isn’t really the greatest, but I finished up the night before meeting up with Renee for a date with King Tut at the Denver Art Museum, and a few pints at Pints…..We have fun times….

Braided Gem Socks from Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarn.  The pattern is a 4 st braid bordered by 3 purl sts, just a 4 row repeat, dead simple to memorize by the 8th row.  A nice alternative to plain ribs, and it looks great with yarns that tend to pool.  I was testing some other patterns with this yarn before settling on this pattern, and I really liked how the yarn looked with lots of purl sts, so this pattern really highlights that.  The yarn is Tofutsies, got it 1/2 off at Fancy Tiger, where else?

One glorious pound of Alpaca!!!  The gray is from the Estes Park Wool Market just about a year ago.  I had been stalking the group that sells this for several years, and finally last year, I felt confident enough to buy it!  The brown is from Table Rock Llamas outside Colorado Springs.  Bought it today.  I have my eye on a couple scarves from Scarf Style.  We shall see….

Here are my Waving Lace Socks, from Favorite Socks from Interweave.  These socks are featured on the cover of the book.  I have tried to knit these several times, but couldn’t for the life of me get past the picot edge at the top of the sock with the correct number of stitches.  I finally got it right.  The yarn is Pagewood Farms Denali, Superwash/Nylon blend, in the brightest blue you have ever seen, bought at the Yarn Garden Shop in downtown Bloomington, IL.  I have nothing to match these socks, but who cares!  I have already machine washed the socks, no change in the yarn!  An expensive yarn, but so far great quality.
