Guess what Tumblr, I’m pregnant, due 8/10!  I have pretty much abandoned all knitting, no interest whatsoever.  I’ve knitted a couple items for the baby, truth be told, but I’ve been much more into sewing.  I don’t think I have ever made any clothes for children, but I really enjoy it!  It only took me 2 1/2 hours to do both pairs of pants.  Super quick project!  But, since everything is so small it’s a bit harder to iron, pin, and sew some parts.  Other than that, it’s a breeze.
Pattern is Simplicity, size M (12 months), fabric and thread from Fancy Tiger (the snowflakes were 30% off!).  You only need 5/8 yard for each, so it’s a great inexpensive project.

And you sewed me into my wedding dress, and I’ll love you forever because of that.

Here’s my latest quilt, made for my roommate from college’s new baby Ryan.  All the materials from Fancy Tiger in Denver.  I had my eyes on those bees (binding) for the longest time, and good timing, because only a few weeks after I bought it, it was all gone!  I am really enjoying quilting, I think I am going to take the charm pack quilt class next time around.  Yay!  Welcome Ryan!

My first commission job!  My mother (of all people, she actually QUILTS, like for real) asked me to make a quilt for her friend’s new grandson (due in October).  Truly honored, I dug up the makings of this quilt from my sale table runs at the end of the season, flannel front and back from Fancy Tiger, and the PERFECT binding found at the Quilt Store.  I love making quilts, though it is getting far too hot to be tacking down binding on a flannel quilt lately.

I took the Fat Quarter Tote class from Fancy Tiger in Denver around the first of the year, and I really thought that I had made a mistake with the pink, but now that it is going on summer, the pink is working.  When did pink become my favorite color?  I’m going to have to work on that.  The fat quarters are from a quilt shop in Geneva.  Three different Batiks.

Second pair of shorts!  Finished over 2 days after work.  Same pattern as the earlier pair.  I wish the weather was warmer because as it is, the shorts are after work wear only, and always under blankets.  In a few months I will be sorry I said that….

Here are my summer shorts, soon to be a favorite no doubt. Fabric from a killer sale at Fancy Tiger (under $10.00!), and the Pattern from Simplicity, on sale for $1.99 at Joann Fabrics. I altered the pattern so that I could do a drawstring rather than an all-elastic waistband. Started today, finished today, a very quick project (though doing it all in one day is a bit much). I can’t wait to wear these on the first 1:00 Friday at work. Hopefully I can ride my bike to work that day, a double whammy of awesome. I hope everyone is ready for summer!

Buckle your seat belts folks!  This could be the most in-over-my-head project I have ever taken on, but I made it!  I was inspired as usual by the end-of-season sale at the local bag maker Maruca.  They design all their own fabrics, and commission manufacturing in the US.  All their bags are cut locally, and sent out to local seamstresses to be sewn together.  At the sale, they sell their fabrics, and coincidentally my mother was in town.  My mother is the sewist, I get any sewing ability from her pretty much by osmosis.  So we went to the sale and picked out the fabric, I stopped by Fancy Tiger and found the TOO PERFECT lining fabric and picked up Amy Butler’s Frenchy Bag pattern, and 3 machine needles later, Voila!  Fully lined!  Magnetic Snap!  I don’t think I can do anything crafty for several days!
